    Her contralto voice is one of the most distinctive sound around today. Its pronounced huskiness in the middle of the voice would be anathema to many conventional voice teachers; it’s a byproduct of a vocal technique that digs deeply into the nether chest regions, producing dark velvet sounds that are nearly bass in timbre and extends up the scale to a firm top .
